Take action! Tell Starbucks to not only offer vegan plant-based milks (such as soy, almond, rice, and coconut milk) in place of cow milk in all of Starbucks’ milk-containing drinks, but to make them readily available and without a price premium, and to clearly mark that they are available on the menu at every location. Finally, to make sure customers know they can get their drinks without cow milk, tell Starbucks to require baristas to ask customers what type of milk they want.”

Non dairy milk is more expensive, therefore paying 50C-$1 extra makes sense.

being a non dairy drinker myself, I know I’m in the minority it’s MY job to make sure I get the right milk in my drink. saying “if I get this drink with soy is it fully dairy free?” take about 2 seconds. the baristers at starbucks have busy enough time without having to ask what kind of milk YOU want.

After all you don’t expect Mcdonals to ask you if you want meat in your burger do you?

Yeah, I agree about them asking the customer. I don’t find that necessary, personally. But that’s just me.

BUT. A) Their drinks are already priced enough that they make PLENTY of profit. B) If it is an issue, they could just up the prices of all the drinks containing milk instead of saying it’s extra for a different milk. The amount they charge for a different milk is insane, considering how much you have in a cup, 50c-$1 is ludicrous.

And it’s kind of different to what you said about Mcdonalds. They don’t offer meat substitutes, if you order a ‘chicken burger’, you know to expect chicken. Starbucks drinks aren’t called ‘dairy coffees’.

but its a known fact that Starbucks (and every other cafe that isn’t vegan) that they have dairy milk, and until non dairy drinkers become the majority its the way it is.

It’s starbucks jobs to make a profit though. if you owned starbucks you would add an extra charge for non dairy milk.

at the end of the day the real option is not to buy it.
I don’t buy it because its so expensive.

To be honest I care more about weather the coffee is fair trade or not.

I think that is why this petition is for Starbucks - because they are such a major company, other coffee shops try to mimic them. If Starbucks had more options of non-dairy milks, other coffee shops would follow suit.

I don’t understand what you mean by ‘at the end of the day the real option is not to buy it’…. Do you mean not to buy the non-dairy milk?
I can’t speak for other people who’ve signed/reblogged this petition, but for me, the price isn’t a problem, the problem is contributing to such horrific things for other beings.

If you care about the coffee being fair trade - that shows you care about humans. Which is great. But you’re not caring about animals. So you don’t care about equality and sentience, you only care about the human race. (Also, I’m not sure if you know, but the dairy industry also is harmful to a lot of humans as well, cutting out dairy saves human lives too)

I mean don’t buy starbucks at all. if you don’t want to contribute to “to such horrific things for other beings.” don’t buy it. at all.
I don’t buy products tested on animals because I don’t like the idea of it. (but I eat meat and eggs so I guess it makes me a hypocrite…) I care about animals, I love my cat and when I can afford it/flatting I plan on buying my only free range products, but I will make sure the places I go out to eat have free range, and that I ask for it, because its my choice and I’m in the minority.

I think at the end of the day, Instead of making it the people who work at starbucks problem, just don’t shop there, don’t buy into what they stand for, don’t buy into anywhere that buys into the exploitation of animals at all.

Oh, not buy starbucks at all. I see. Yeah, again, this conversation doesn’t really apply well to me, it’s very rare that I personally buy starbucks.

It’s not about just not buying from places that exploit animals (if that were what one did, you couldn’t even buy from your supermarket), it’s about awareness and changing the world. (That’s how I see it anyway) This is SUCH a minor thing in changing the world, but every little thing someone does to better the world, still counts.

I guess at the end of the day just not going to starbucks makes to much sense to me, and I guess I care about people more, I care that people kill themselves still and that kids get sold to be sex slaves and people die because they can’t afford medical care. there are so many problems with our own race that needs fixing, and to fix the world I believe we need to fix each other.
